The Tote is Finished....

Finally! I thought I would never finish this project. Working only a little every night, it took four nights, unbelievable. I've had too many interruptions this week.
I'll start on the dog scarves tomorrow night. I'm going to use this brown and blue cotton fabric and they will be reversible. Paws on one side and circles on the other. I'll probably do a decorative stitch that will show on the paw print side just to add some interest to the scarves.

It snowed about three inches last night and the ice under the snow made driving dangerous this morning. Route 19 was closed from about 6AM until 9AM, some kind of traffic accident. The DOT closed the road after the accident so they could clear the accident and salt the roads. Route 19 is a major four lane highway and my route to work. I waited until the road opened before I left for work. Days like this make me want to quit my job and stay home, hibernate like a bear. The weather report says no more snow until Saturday night, but very very cold. Yuck....I hate cold weather.

We have lot to do this weekend. I bought Don a new desktop computer for Christmas and we have yet to set it up. I guess we need to set it up this weekend. He is using a laptop for everything without a docking station and that can be a real pain. He's looking forward to the huge monitor, new programs etc. I had the computer customized and ordered everything wireless. I hate all the wires that it takes to connect the computer. Our internet connection, printer, fax, and scanner are wireless so why not have everything wireless. The only two connections will be the power cord and the monitor cord.....wonderful. No rats nest (wires) underneath the desk.

Tote came out cute. It looks like you lined the tote in charms as well. Will this be for you? If not, I can email you my address...LOL

I'm anxious to see the doggie scarves.

Cindy, the inside is lined with a coordinating Moda fabric. What you see in the picture are the inside pockets that are charms. I used charms for the handles instead of a single cut.

Valerie--just came across your blog tonight and really enjoyed reading it! I think I may try that tote after my sewing room remodel. I noticed your thread rack(?) in one of the pics and wondered if you might share how how it was made--is it on dowels? It looks like something I might be able to do in my room.

Looking forward to reading more of your blog

Flo, the thread rack came from here http://www.allthreads.com/ThreadRacks.aspx I have a vinyl cover over it to protect it from dust. I purchased the vinyl by the yard and used sticky back velcro on the sides to attach the vinyl to the rack. The thread rack dowels are too short, for the Isacord thread, I used straws to extend the length of the dowels. I love having my thread at eye level and not having to dig in carts and containers. My rack hold 150 spools and I need to add another rack. Most people will tell me my thread should be protected in a cabinet. I protect it with vinyl and the sun does not shine on my rack.

Valerie, My thoughts exactly about being able to see the threads at a glance. Thanks for the link and info--My rack is on the way!

Your welcome, I just took a closer look at mine....I forgot that I have a 150 spool rack and another 50 spool rack above it. The two racks fit right over top of each other. Gees, that's 200 spools of thread and I have some in the closet that won't fit on the rack. that's a thread crying shame...too much thread I believe.
